Wilfrid Laurier Faculty Association passes BDS motion

Wilfrid Laurier University Faculty Association passed a BDS motion on academic freedom, preservation of Palestinian education, and solidarity with Palestine. The motion passed with a strong majority on April 18, 2024. It calls for a permanent ceasefire and condemns the scholasticide in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem. It commits the Faculty Association to work toward boycotting Israeli institutions and divesting from corporations ¬†complicit in genocide. The motion also calls on the University to strengthen academic links with Palestinian academics and educational workers under the auspices of WLU’s Visiting Researcher-Scholars at Risk program.
