Wilfrid Laurier Faculty Association passes BDS motion

Wilfrid Laurier University Faculty Association passed a BDS motion on academic freedom, preservation of Palestinian education, and solidarity with Palestine. The motion passed with a strong majority on April 18, 2024. It calls for a permanent ceasefire and condemns the scholasticide in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem. It commits the Faculty Association to work toward boycotting Israeli institutions and divesting from corporations  complicit in genocide. The motion also calls on the University to strengthen academic links with Palestinian academics and educational workers under the auspices of WLU’s Visiting Researcher-Scholars at Risk program.
