The Renison Association of Academic Staff at the University of Waterloo passed a BDS motion protecting academic freedom in Palestine and solidarity with educational workers. The motion passed on April 24, 2024. It calls on the University of Waterloo to divest and boycott all Israeli institutions and corporations complicit in Israeli war crimes, breaches of international law and human rights violations in Palestine. It calls on the University to strengthen academic ties with Palestinian universities and academics and to support the right to “research, write, speak and teach” about Palestine. It also calls for a permanent ceasefire.
